I am a proud owner of a brand new IBM T43. With all the extra thinkpad utilities running in the background... specifically the fingerprint and security suite; is the standard windows defrag safe to run on the computer. Would this allow for opitmal boot times and performance?

    Thanks,
    BankBen

    hi
in my opinion, the standard windows defrag is sufficient for the job. other tools such diskeeper or O&O Defrag provides other (optional) methods of defragmentation but otherwise they all achieve the same thing. From my experience using the three tools, diskeeper seemed to be the fastest. O&O Defrag provides more methods of defragmentation such as defragging according to name order or mostly used files which could quite beneficial.

Would it be safe to run TuneXP on the thinkpad too?

If used correctly you should be OK.

Well OO Defrag is powerful and intuitive enough to use and I have absolutely no complaints about it. Will even help you improve yoru boot up time.
