My T60p came with Diskkeeper Lite. Did Lenovo remove the standard XP Defragmenter from the machine? I can't find it. Diskeeper Lite keeps wanting me to spend $29.99 to upgrade to a different version. Is it worth it? How do I get the standard XP version back?

My neighbor had the same problem with his new Lenovo.

If you go into C:\Windows\System32\ you should be able to find "dfrg.msc". That is the XP defrag. If it is there, you have to uninstall Diskkeeper Lite to run the Win XP defrag. If it is not there then they did trash your XP Defrag but I am very sure that they left it. Either way you should uninstall Diskkeeper because it is a stupid program. If you end up not having an XP defrag just go buy the Diskkeeper Pro (you would have had to anyway).

Also, I think I remember that when you uninstall Diskkeeper, it places the XP Defrag shortcut back into the Accessories\System Tools\ folder in your start menu.

Edit: now that I think about it, if you do some searching you may be able to find the XP Defrag if Lenovo trashed it.

Do you think Diskeeper Pro is stupid? Why or why not?

Personally I have never used it, but I really have no reason to. XP defag works just fine.

I would imagine that the Diskkeeper program is decent because it is a "specialized" program. They focus on one aspect of a computer and build a program for it. But $29.99 is way to much for a program that I would imagine only does a marginally better job than XP's defrag.

there are some really nice defrag programs like O&O defrag. that show you much more information about what they are doing as well as having different modes for different computers (home machine, database, server, workstation, space saving, ect.) they do different things like compress the data to the front of the drive, or alphabatize the contents based on the windows tree.(this helps windows load faster because of the way windows searches for its files.
this i think isnt really nessisary but these programs also give you options like defrag at each startup or at designated times. they can also be done while the screesaver is on. so if you leave your desk it will start working on it then when you come back it turns back off so you can return to work.

i dont use them but they could be very useful to some i imagine.

If you're able to configure your settings so you won't be constantly hounded to upgrade (I'm not really sure you can - I don't own a Lenove), I think you'll find what you have to be far better than Windows own defrag program. Diskeeper is a much faster, and much more thorough program.
