Hello,
I'm planning to purchase Thinkpad X1 Extreme, with the 4k panel.
Does anyone know whether the standard warranty covers all pixel defect? E.g. dead pixels, lit-up pixels, etc.?
Wondering whether or not I should pay extra for 0-defective pixel warranty at HIDEvolution.
Thanks!

I don't know whether Lenovo's warranty covers dead/stuck pixels. But I can tell you that you're guaranteed a perfect screen if you choose the 30 day pixel from HIDevolution. And if you have a problem, they will fix it quick.
IMO, dealing with a reputable reseller like HIDevolution is easier than dealing with a manufacturer in a lot of cases. That alone makes the $35 "30 day guarantee" worth the money. -
I believe there has to be three dead or stuck pixels before it's considered defective under the warranty and eligible for replacement. I've heard they'll consider less if the pixels are in the center of the screen, but I don't have any firsthand knowledge. I just replaced the UXGA LCDs on my desktop with a pair of WQHD screens. The old ones both had stuck pixels. The resolution was so high(this was 20" 1600x1200) that I rarely noticed them unless the screen was back. I'd think on a 15" 4k screen, it would be less so, but everyone's different. I guess whether you want to pay for the protection is a personal choice. I would say no, but if you think it'll bother you, it merits consideration.

If you fall below 3 dead pixel (2 dead pixel or 1) just say that the panel flickers and rarely fails to show a picture on random startups. They have to change the panel regardless if you report this, and most likely won't even check since you mention it's random and rare.
The CTO model can also be upgraded with onsite warranty up to 5 years, suggest you upgrade to premier service during checkout or later down the road.
Perks is now 35% off (X1E) or 40% off (P1). If you want access to this store PM me (I do NOT profit from this).
