The data sheets like these: http://www5.pc.ibm.com/europe/me.ns...nkPad+R+Series:Data+Sheet:English&&cntry=UK-L

These used to detail the different case materials among each series. I am trying to verify Andrew's claim that " The plastic on the lid does not feel like the R-series or the Z-series, it actually doesn't feel like plastic at all, I was surprised when the designers told me it wasn't the same magnesium build."

I am thinking he means vs previous generation R's and Z's (obviously on Z), the case material of the T is different. I am trying to find out if there is a difference between the case material b/t the R and T, 61. Everything else seems to be the same b/t them aside from thickness, and there is no mention of it on the data sheets. I feeling more and more like there exists no difference in build b/t R and T.

But just hoping someone has a link to more detailed data sheets, or at least some kind of source to info on this matter, because dietcokefiend also mentioned the specific make of plastic: " My T60 has mitsubishi made carbon/plastic palmrests, and when its not mounted and secured down it is VERY flexible. The fun part is that it bends quite far without cracking though."

    Yeah, that's the stuff, thanks.

R61- Top: Super-Elastic PolyCarconate (SEPC); Bottom: Carbon-Fiber Reinforced Plastic

T61- Top: Super-Elastic PolyCarconate (SEPC); Bottom: Carbon-Fiber Reinforced Plastic

In terms of build, 0.1" thickness is all that separates the R and T series. That and $100. Waah!

Correct - T61 14-wide & R61 14-wide have same build design including case materials. R61 is 0.1" thicker to fit the 12.7mm optical, which is good if you care about Blu-ray (to be released later).
