I received my T61 (WSXGA with 140nvs) about two months ago. Great machine and all; LG screen, no light leakage, sturdy build, its my first laptop by the way. Just recently, I found out there was sudden light leakage on the bottom corners of the screen, kind of looks like a spot light on the screen. Furthur examining it, i noticed the bottom left corner of the screen was slightly bent up (bulging up), like the outside film cover was pulled up somehow. there is no physical damage on the right hand corner though, but light leakage is there.

My Question: could the reasons for the corner light leakage problems be by the way you open up the lid of the laptop? (i.e, using only one hand to close the laptop by the corner [ i see there is screen distortion effects, which also reveals light leakage when i close it this way]), or could the possibility of carrying the laptop frequently be the issue (i am in college, so i keep my laptop in the backpack and i walk fast too)? if anything, what could cause this sudden light leakage?

    thanks for anyone's responses...

I often close my computer the same way but now I won't.

This problem is making my laptop seem like its some antique china. I know laptops are typically built for mobile use and occasional light wear and tear, but is simply just closing the lid by the corner going to damage the screen?
