I have DVD recordable drive, and use Verbatim DVD+RW discs. I used to be able to copy files from HD to the disc by drag and drop, but for whatever reason can't any more--
" Windows does not support this CD-RW format. To use this disc, choose the task 'Erase this CD-RW', which will format the disc so that Windows can use it"
(DLA still enabled, but says disc is disabled. What does it mean and how to fix?). So I followed the instruction and chose to erase the entire disc in order to be able to copy files again. But as soon as I started the process, got:
" Cannot complete the CD writing wizard... The Windows cannot finish erasing the disc and has stopped the process. Please try to erase the disc again..."
(Remember my disc is DVD+RW, and the drive is DVD recordable.)
I had the first part of the problem some time ago and don't remember how it fixed itself. I don't know how the problem came back with more trouble (even can't erase the whole disc).
P.S. The property says there are "0 bytes" free space, but that's absolutely untrue, the disc has less than half of storage used. Seems it's not being recognized?
I'm leaving on a trip and want to store files on the DVD. Any help will be really appreciated! Thanks!

have you got any 3rd party software such as Nero or Roxio....
I had a similar problem and would advise you to download the trial version of Nero and see if it can erase the disc..!! -
angad1608, thanks. I just installed trial Nero following your suggestion. One question: what's the difference between "Back up" and "Burn data"? Both will erase the whole DVD then copy data to the DVD, isn't it?

In Nero StartSmart, if you do a Backup, that will copy and save your current disc as an Image on to your hard drive for future writing, and you can also view the contents of the image file via emulating software such as Daemon Tools....
Burn Data will just burn data, thats it and if it is a multisession disc in the recorder, it will only add data to the current data residing in that disc....!! It should open Nero Express and give you the option of Copy Disc..!! I dont know much about the limitations of the trial version, but thats how it goes in the retail version of Nero 8..
If you want to erase the DVD-RW....
Click on the Nero button at the bottom of the menu and click on erase disc....and then do a full-erase..
DVD Recordable drive ... Can't erase DVD+RW disc
