I am using Lenovo Power Manager 3. With my current power theme (which I cant really even figure out - It seems to be set for long battery life) my DVD drive powers off (if not in use) and then I cant get it back ON unless I restart the computer. If I open "Computer" and see all the drives the DVD drive is there and if you right click it gives you an option to "POWER ON" which doesnt seem to have any effect.

If I go into W7 power settings it is set to maximum battery. I cant seem to find a setting for the DVD drive. I am sure it is there and I am just missing it. Any hints?

    TIA

In Power Manager, under the tab Power Plan, under the section System Settings, there is a setting for "automatic optical driver power off".

If I open Power Manager 3, then go to Power Plan, then System Settings I see 4 options: Max CPU Speed, CPU Deeper Sleep, Optimize Fan Control to:, and Display Brightness.

I dont see one for optical drive.

I checked the other options and didnt see optical drive under "Idle Timers", "Advanced Settings" , "Events" or "Alarms."

If it's powered off you may have to restart to get it to power on before you're able to tweak the setting. I just thought that you wanted to turn off this feature but I'm not sure how you can turn on the optical drive after it's been powered off.

Just press the eject button? That's what I usually do.
