Today, I follow the pdf from lenovo and took apart my laptop. I still have two years of warranty. DId I just void it? The reason I took it apart is because it is getting too hot while gaming (league of legends) on the lowest settings. CPU get up to 96f. Second thing is the fingerprint reader is dead again. The first time I brought it to lenovo's repair, they just replace the motherboard and didn't even brother check what cause the problem. If taking it apart does not void the warranty, can I take it to them and tell them everything I did?

    thanks

Opening laptop may/may not void warranty depending brand and model.

In general, if you tell them , then maybe yes. If you don't tell them and you did not break anything major, no.

As mentioned earlier, If you didn't break anything, don't say anything about having opened the laptop etc. Basically you don't want to give them any excuse to void your warranty so if they can't tell you opened it then don't say a thing.

If there is clear marks that you have opened the laptop and they ask about it, say that due to the heating issue, you were just giving the fan/heatsink a clean with some compressed air. I don't think they can void your warranty for simply opening the case and blowing it with air.

Now if you are missing a screw that belongs to a component that is not considered customer replaceable, that could be an issue if they detect it.

Is the single screw the only problem or did you break something?
