    Hello All,

I'm looking for a Lenovo to use as a business laptop i'm from the UK and from what i have seen i can get more for my money if i get the T520 from the US with international warranty.

    I can't buy from Lenovo US as i don't own a US credit/debit card.

I came across a thread where someone mentioned CDW.com do international shipping and i noticed they have a customize option up to a certain price (i think from the looks of it)

I want to ask if anyone has brought a Lenovo from CDW via the custom option? is it any good?

Is there any other companies where i can pre-spec a Lenovo?

    Thanks in advance.

What configuration are you looking at for your T520?

Thank you for your reply and i've been doing more research and looking at Lenovo's in search of a good price and I've decided on a W520 which i've fallen in love with and also don't need due to what i'll be using it for. But when i spec a T520 on Lenovo UK for my needs the W520 that i've found is only £200-£300 more and is infinitely better.

    So i'll be getting that.

Q, I'd like to ask though, Is the DVD drive hot-swappable with a HDD in a Hard Drive Bay Adapter, If i had a HDD in the bay and only had files etc on there would i able to swap it out for a DVD drive to install software then swap back to the HDD while the laptop is on?

I understand most software can be installed without a disk but just wondering if it can be done.

You should be able to hot-swap the UltraBay device. At least that's how it's been fore every TP I've used...

Thanks for your reply to my question, Ordered the Lenovo W520 just waiting on it to be delivered.

Thank you for confirming it can be done.

Being new to Lenovo thinkpads are there any tips that are recommended to get the best out of the W520?

Another question, I've been looking at info regarding making a recovery disk.. From what i have read so far it says that you need 1 CD + 2/3 DVD's.

    Is this still the case?

I saw one person on a thread say they used a DVD as the 1st disk (CD).

Can anyone on this forum confirm a DVD can be used instead of a CD?

I have 3 DVD +R RW 4.7GB (Blank) and 7 others with Data but i should be able to delete the data if more than 3 is needed.

    Can i use these?

The first recovery disc is a "boot" disc (small content) and can be either CD or DVD. Yes, you can use DVD for this.

The subsequent recovery discs are "data" discs and must be DVDs (big contents). Typically 2 to 3, but someone recently reported 4 (which is new news to me).

    Hello again

My W520 came today from the US but no UK Plug so i'm wondering,

What Voltage UK 8 figure plug do i need?

Will any do? I have a 250v but the adapter say 100v-240v so i'm a bit worried to use it as its higher voltage.

Thank for the reply and the link to the voltage map very useful.

Interesting i guess the 250v plugs don't reach 250v because the voltage in the UK is max 240v

    Can someone confirm?

the US brick will work in the UK.   all you need is the proper figure 8 cable to adapt it to mains.

Thanks, I now have a plug for it everything is running fine.

    New questions..

The W520 i brought came with a 160GB intel SSD which i want to free up space on.

    Can i delete Hiberfil.sys and Pagefile.sys?

    Hiberfil.sys is around 12GB

    Pagefile.sys is around 16GB

I also plan to recover the 22-33GB from the Lenovo recovery on the SSD but i need to make Recovery Disks 1st which i'll do very soon.
