I've had this particular Y500 for approximately 3 months now and noticed recently that my battery capacity is shown as only 66.320 Wh in ThrottleStop and HWiNFO64:

    HWiNFO64.PNG TS.PNG

The Y500 battery is listed as 6-cell 6700 mAh (72 Wh) capacity. I'm wondering if my battery capacity really degraded this quickly or if maybe the software readings are incorrect. HWiNFO64 has a reading for battery wear level but this still shows 0% like the day I got the machine. Can any other Y500 owners check what their stated battery capacity is in ThrottleStop or HWiNFO64?

This summer I've had the laptop plugged in and battery fully charged for about 95% of the time. I tried the "Optimized Battery Health" setting in Lenovo Energy Management which prevents the battery from charging past 60%. This supposedly helps reduce battery wear but I noticed a bug where it would automatically revert back to "Maximum Battery Life" whenever you shut down the machine and unplug the charger. It was a hassle to remember to change it every time I turned on the laptop so I stopped using it.

Mine only returns to Maximum Battery Life if i Unplug the battery, otherwise it stays on OBH.

Bios version 1.05 fixes this. So it will act in the same way as the user above described.

This is weird. I just checked my bios version and its even older than yours (2.02), but the most interesting is that I had the same issue before upgrading bios. I can't explain this, have you tried to reinstall lenovo energy management ?

I don't know what you are worrying about.

66.320 Wh reaming of a 67 Wh battery, is less than .68% wear at 100% charge.

Full Charge Capacity is always less than Designed Capacity.

I use CPUID HWMonitor. This is my Y470 battery status, after 27 months, using Best Battery Health. I had a power failure last week, and my battery saved me from a dirty shut down.

The Y500 has a 72 Wh battery, so 66.320 Wh if accurate is an almost 8% decrease in 3 months of not doing anything to the battery other than keeping it fully charged almost all the time.

Can't believe it's this long and I still don't have the information I would like, but would another Y500 owner please check what his stated battery capacity is when fully charged?

I didn't use Optimized Battery Health before I did the BIOS update so I don't know if the bug existed on previous versions or not. I'm not gonna downgrade just to find out and lose all the benefits of 2.04; it's not that big of a deal. Anyway, it seems weird that there would be a regression like this in a BIOS update. Reinstalling Energy Management didn't fix it. I'm pretty sure it's a firmware not a software problem.

Uh no. Some serious issues have been fixed since V1.05 and it's not even possible anyway as V2.02 is what my laptop came with.
