Anyone noticed that the ctrl key and fn key positions are switched on the Thinkpad keyboard compared to every other computer manufacturer's keyboard?
It takes a little getting used to.

Not every other computer One of the deciding factors of me getting my Compal was that Fn was in the "correct" position, just like on Thinkpads. I hit it accidentally if it's not the furthest out key.

my keybaurd and my sisters are deffrent like that too, mine's fn, ctrl, hers is crtl, fn

I am so used to ctrl, fn, Windows. On the Thinkpad, I am constantly hitting the fn key when I really want to hit the ctrl key...

Is there a remapping tool to swap these keys?

The fact that it's Fn,Ctrl instead of Ctrl,Fn is one of the reason I like the thinkpad. My ASUS is the same way. It makes more sense for ease of use to have ctrl to the right of fn. I don't know about you but I use the Fn key maybe every other day and the ctrl key maybe every other minute. As someone pointed out the compal has it as well. The fact that dell is opposite is one of the major things that turns me off to dell.

I think lenovo...or actually IBM did it first I think...purposely did that, or at least from what I've heard. The Fn keys operated essential hardware functions for quick access; for example...to turn on the keyboard light you needed to hit Fn (the key on the bottom left hand corner) and the key on the upper right hand corner (I forgot what key it is). This was intentional...they keys were easy to find and there was no stumbling hitting the wrong keys trying to turn on the light. I wish all laptops were Fn, ctrl...it would make the transition between laptops and desktops flawless.

Actually I tend to use ctrl c or ctrl v for cutting and pasting a LOT more often than the fn key.
Oh well, just takes a little getting used to. No biggie. -
