I like to make an image of the recovery discs, which you can burn off at any time and they work. I've done it myself.

It's been a while but I have used a program called CDBurnerXP that has a feature which allows one to either burn a direct DVD to DVD copy or allows one to create ISOs from data discs. I have successfully produced ISO copies of games that require the game disc in order for one to play. I would put the ISO image on an SD card to load my game rather than carrying around a disc. A bit old school but it worked well enough for me :) I also found that I could burn that ISO to DVD and it would work fine. Perhaps this might help? Hope I am making sense- just woke up to get the younger kids in my family ready for school
