I have been reading this forum for about 2 months and havn't heard anything bad about a thinkpad yet. It is truly amazing about how everyone is never disappointed about the IBM product. I"m looking at getting a new notebook and i just can't see how i could not get a thinkpad with all the reviews on them. My questions to you thinkpad owners are how are the screens i heard there not as good as the new sony, HP, toshiba screen with the brightview and so on. Also does anyone know if IBM is comming out with a widescreen thinkpad anytime soon.
Any comments would help me out a lot thanks so much.

yep, it's really true, ThinkPads are amazing
My first notebook was a Acer C111, build quality was so-so, keyboard was small (shrunk)
Now i have a X40 and i love it
great Display, really bright, the ThinkLight is really useful for people who work late (like me)
best keyboard i've ever had under my hand(i had many Dells, a few Acers and few more)
if you really want a great Notebook, then you can only buy a IBM
the only disadventage i can think of, is the price, ThinkPads are quite expansive (but worth the money!!!) -
I'm looking forward to getting a Thinkpad R51 in 2006 hopefully. They are very amazing machines from my experiance, I don't got one yet but my dad has one and I know others who own them too.
But here's a question I must bring up to those who own IBMs: Does IBM have any recent history of not being as software capatible as other notebooks out there? Or have you personally had software problems with your IBM? I dunno I just heard from some review that they are great in durablity but don't rate very high in capatiblity with some things. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks. -
