Hey folks, I've got two questions about the X300 media bay:

    1) Is the optical drive a standard 9.5mm device, or something thinner? The media bay battery is rated at 9.5mm in height, but the X300 maintenance guide says "DVD-RAM/RW drive, 7mm".

    2) Given that the media bay supports 9.5mm devices, can I use a T400/T500 UltraBay SATA HDD module like the one depicted here to install a standard 2.5" SATA HDD in an X300? Will it be bootable?

    Thanks in advance!

I believe it is a 7mm drive, the UJ-844. Are you sure it's the correct battery? Plus it's not a modular bay like the T or R series. There's no eject mechanism. Whatever device is in there is secured to the chassis with a screw. You'd need to find a way for it to stay in place. Duct tape comes to mind. :p
