I have a thinkpad yoga and I connect an Asus USB monitor to it. I am trying to find out if this will work:

    - get something to split one of the USB outputs into two USB outputs
    - use those two USB outputs for two USB Asus monitors

I am concerned that one USB may not be enough for two USB monitors. I cannot use the second USB port on my laptop because that is being used by my keyboard mouse combo.

The gechic portable monitors I saw had a screen that looked pretty dim and reflective compared to the asus monitor I have and so I don't have much faith in that kind of HDMI monitor. Plus its battery can frequently run out or require an outlet.

I think that's a valid concern given that many hubs and splitters split the data signal and power. If you can find a USB hub that will extend/amplify, then you may be able to use two monitors on the one port.

You could try using the usb hub on the usb port with the keyboard and mouse, so that 1 usb would be monitor, and the other usb would have monitor+keyboard, since keyboards do not use that much bandwidth
