Anyone know how much does the warranty extension usually cost for ThinkPad(X series computer)?

I'm debating if I should add a 2 year warranty to my order right now(2 year basic is $55 for me right now) or if I should add it later.

    :)

Usually, it's less expensive to add it when you order.

i just checked into this and the cost of adding coverage later (where permitted; check those rules) is about 25% more when not part of a system purchase.

As an aside, some of Lenovo's policies really sock and are completely out of the norm. EG, you cannot cancel a warranty and receive a pro-rated refund - ever - whereas I'd wager more than 75% allow just that. Worse, the only warranty cancellation permitted must occur within 21 days of INVOICE date (that's when they ship it, so by the time you get it, there's only about 14 days left to cancel it) and then they still charge a "restocking fee," as if a warranty has to be checked, refurbished, recertified, etc. the way returned equipment does. It's just a penalty for changing your mind about the service policy you want, to the tune of 15%, which can be as much as $30, depending on the warranty you are cancelling

(And no, you can't go from 3 years to 2 and just pay the"restocking" fee on the reduction in the value of the service contract. No friends, you must "return" your warranty, pay the full 15% "restocking fee," then purchase the shorter warranty, let's say from 3 years to 2, you then have to purchase the 2 year coverage at the 25% higher price than it was when you bought your system, perhaps another $30 or $40.)

So, if you simply change your mind about what warranty you want on a product purchased 10 minutes ago, you will be charged about $65 more to go from a 3 year to a 2 year warranty. FYI, that $65 is about the whole difference in the prices of those two warranties, so you would end up concluding you may as well stick (as in, stuck!) with the original one you had!

I guess this is just one of the ways Lenovo earns back the outrageous discounts they give; I'm just going off on them because I just learned about it (never having bought a Lenovo before) and it pisses me off when they hide things like "restocking fees" on warranties, for goodness sake.
