I don't see the option to get a Core i7 on the T410s. It's available on the T410, and the T510. I was wondering if anybody had any insight into this. Is it going to become available in the near future?

Personal preference... I'd just like to have the i7. Intel's marketing machine won me over.

The extra power draw is negligible. A CPU is less than 10% of a laptop's overall power usage, and the power difference between the i5 and i7 is also less than 10%.

This means that overall, I will see a < 1% power difference.

Some CPUs marketed as i7 are faster and some are slower than the i5-520m/i5-540m in the T410s. Some i7 consume more and some less power. Its just a random marketing distinction. Unless the OP asks about a specific CPU its just meaningless...

Lenovo will never give you the option to put in a quad core, so you're SOL there. The 620M is a possibility but I believe Intel is having shortages so you won't be able to configure it for a while.
