Kinda been around for a hot minute. I know there's at least one Y550p owner on here because he posted about it dieing already. Newegg sells an i7 720 variant too: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834146613

*And I'm strongly considering buying it in the next day or two. I've basically been looking at the Y550p and a C2D Dell Studio XPS16. The dell has a higher resolution screen, but there seem to be a lot of horror stories about the SXPS16 in the Dell subforum that have been turning me off to it.

    Whoops, got the price wrong.

Lenovo has a 15% off coupon active till Dec 13 which drops it to $1061. Tax though, depending on where you live. Then again, that's a $400 premium over a Core2Duo w/ the same GT 240M. Hmm...

Who are they targeting with an i7 laptop that has a 15.6" 1366x768 screen?

It makes sense; it's matched with the 240M. I'd rather be able to run something at decent graphics in full resolution than have (a) a stretched image w/ high detail or (b) a non-scaled image w/ low detail.

if it had a slightly higher res screen I'd be all over it. It's a shame, because I love every other thing about this beast

Gamers would be looking for something higher than 1366x768, no?

People with money and who want to have the newest technology when it comes out.

Not on this card. Thats pretty spot on for peak performance with a 240m.
