Hello. I would like to know the different possibilities of monitor configurations between the T61. My graphics card is the NVDIA one.

Basically, I would like to have two monitors to make work alot easier. There are two configurations that I can think of:

    1) Using the laptop monitor itself as one of the two monitors, and connecting an external monitor.

    2) Connecting two external monitors.

The ideal situation would be if it is possible to connect just ONE external monitor (to save money) and use my laptop as the main computer and other monitor. Is that possible? If so, how and for those who have tried this configuration, does it work as well as having two of the same monitors side by side?

    Cheers.

Yeah... its possible... there should be two displays in your display properties... it shows that it is dual display capable.

You don't need a dock... You just need to plug the second monitor into the VGA port and extend your desktop. In WinXP it was done in the display settings part. My T61 is running WinXP and not Vista so I can't help on the new OS.

According to this page, the Quadro NVS 140M can support up to a 2048 x 1536 via analog on the external port. I think. Anyhow, I've got a 1024x768 hooked up with no problems.

if you had a dock, you could connect two additional monitors.

OK so let me get this straight:

With just the thinkpad and without the dock, i can connect an external monitor AND use the monitor on my thinkpad, so there would be two displays in total?

    Let me know. Thanks.

think pad alone, you can have an external monitor and the monitor on your thinkpad

thinkpad + dock, you can have two external monitors and the monitor on your thinkpad

actually you cannot use 3 screens with a dock unless you get the advanced with another video card. if that is obtained its still a task. YOu could get more with a dualhead2go or triplehead2go. Whats the max supported res for the quadro 140 via dvi?

Use the vga port and buy a usb monitor!!!

Yes they exist, but you can't use 3D and it only works under xp.

    linky

I don't know the availability, so you'll need to shop around.

usually when i'm using two monitors at work or whatever. I'm using two of the SAME monitors side by side.

I don't know how the experience would be if I'm using a T61 14.1 inch widescreen beside a 19 inch widescreen external monitor...will the experience be smooth or condusive to good work? Let me know of your experiences of using an external monitor with the laptop monitor.

    Cheers.
