My laptop has a VGA port and my TV has a DVI. So, I purchased a VGA cable and a DVI converter. Plugged them in. And it shows the display as Samsung on my laptop. But I can't get it to work on my TV. I turned it to the DVI channel but nothing will come up. I've googled solutions. But can't come up with anything.

    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Noah.

You could pick up the Advanced Mini Dock, which has a DVI connector. It'll probably run you $50-75 depending on the condition.

Would that solve it for sure? That seems like it would be exactly what I'm doing already. I'm running it VGA to DVI.

Can I be expected to guarantee anything since I'm not at your house and I don't know what kind of TV you have? I'd say the chances that it works are pretty good if you use a DVI cable from the dock, but again, I'm kind of feeling around in the dark here. If it doesn't work you can always sell the dock.

you can't back convert an analogue signal to the digital signal without a converter box. So what you are trying won't work.

You would need a dedicated DVI to HDMI, i.e. the advanced mini dock to even contemplate what you are trying to do.
