    hi..

am planning to buy a i7 laptop (15+ screen, atleast 4GB RAM, 500+GB HDD if possible...etc) - to be used @home for general purpose work as well as to run (rarely) some photo/video editing software. The only confusion that I've is if I should go with lets say Lenovo G50-70 or something like a thinkpad which are almost double the price of G50-70. My budget is around 1500usd and am not sure if I should invest in a thinkpad or just get a G50-70.

Are you doing any professional level work with photo/video editing? General purpose honestly any dual core i3/i5 laptop would fit the bill.

I have the G50-70 with 8GB of Ram and the 500GB+8SSD.
I find it a great conputer for work .
It is a bit heavy if you are going to carry it around but great bang for the buck.
Currnetly it is on sale (core i7 , 8GB RAM , 500GB+8SSD) for $579 in the US.
I guess you can ship it to Pakistan with Shipito.

The only drawback in you getting the G50 notebook you linked us to is that it contains a ULV processor, which might hinder you in video editing. Video editing tends to require much of the CPU.

But then, if your editing work is casual/minimal, I think the notebook will be fine for you.
