How does the Z60T stack up? The T43 is probably the best for build quality, Ive ever felt or seen on an IBM. I was told the Z60T is still good, (a lot better than any other entry level laptops), but not T43 level, can anyone confirm this? I notice the Z60T is dirt cheap just about anywhere now, but was thinking...there must be a reason why its so cheap now compared to say the T43.

i have a z60t my girlfriend has a t43. I personally think the z60t with titanium lid is nicer than her t43 but the older T-series does have the colored mouse buttons and stuff like that. The Z is just as solid if not more so than her T. The Z series introduced the rollcage construction, the quality is high.

I would have to agree both are well built, but the Z is stiffer.

Debating build quality is likely to touch a nerve.
That said, consider that the T43 does not have a rollcage but the Z60t has it (so does the T60 tho).
Internal memos show that the T-series is more reliable and less problematic and probably better built than the Z series. However, the fact the T series is less problematic may be attributable to the Z series being new (analogous to a new car model having kinks that need to be worked out). But not a surprising conclusion considering the T-series is generally the flagship in the lineup.
