I have two t410s in front of me at the moment. One is being returned in the next day or two due to a defective lcd (can not run at 60hz), and I had them send me a new one before I sent the other one back, so I would not be without a notebook.
What surprised me as I have both of them in front of me is both the build differences, and hardware differences.
First, t410s (one that is being returned)
- build date of 3/10
- Panosonic battery, according to Power Manager, full charge capacity is 42.96 Wh
- Sony dvd drive, manufactured March/16/2010
- pretty sure the Ram is Crucial, has a big M on it (bought a 4gb(2x2gb) at newegg of crucial, and it is exactly the same as the stock 2gb stick)
Second t410s
- build date of 4/10
- Sanyo battery, full charge capacity is 44.40 Wh
- Hitachi/LG dvd drive, manufactured March 2010
- Samsung Ram
The Lcd is exactly the same, made by Samsung, and the keyboards feel a little different and look slightly different (the blue on certain keys, f keys, for example, are different shades, one lighter than the other). Is there a way to check who made the keyboards? I ran Everest and nothing seemed different, maybe have to take the keyboards out??? Other than that, practically the same, except my new t410s has the Intel 80gb G2 SSD in it.
But, was wondering, if anyone knew, whether any of the hardware components that I listed above as different between the two builds, are much better than the other, especially the dvd drive, the Hitachi/LG feels not as well made as the Sony. Strange about the battery too, wonder which one to keep.
Let me know what you think, have a day or two before I return the first one.

All new lenovo Thinkpad use lgc battery. -Wrong
Anyway to delete replied -
Swap the drives before you send it back if you like the Sony better.

Lenovo keeps track of exactly every part that they use in a machine. Each different manufacturer for each similar part will have different Lenovo part #'s. You can look up the parts of your machine at Lenovo's site. And for warranty purposes, if you send a machine back that had a different drive than the one they sent with it, they may not support it. Not only that, but if he returns a machine with different parts in it than were put in when they sent it to him, they may not accept his return. With the amount of posts you have ZaZ, I suspect you already knew this. And I am not sure why you would give someone the advice you did. -
Ok, I won't swap anything if they keep track of the individual hardware components per computer. The quality is probably not that different, correct me if wrong. I have a 3 year warranty, so I am covered.
Just thought it was interesting about the difference in hardware you get. -
If you're that concerned, call them and ask.
