Here are a couple of R61 configurations I am looking at.
I have read quite a bit on the forums that it is cheaper to get memory and add it later. I assume 1 GB won't be enough to run Vista quickly. How much memory is recommended. Should I just add 1GB more or should I go for 2GB more to make a total of 3GB?
The real question I have is the T8100 that much faster over the T2370 to warrant the $100 price difference. This will mainly be used for internet, word processing, some video editing.

I think the T2370 is fine. Only in CPU intensive tasks will it be a bit slower, but will otherwise be fine. I have 2GB of memory in my R60. I have no issues with it.

2gb is recommended. or you could add 2gb and go 3. There is gonna be a marginal difference. Just a matter of how much you want to spend.

I think it is worth the extra bucks. It is not only the CPU clock but also front side bus: 533 vs 800 is quite a difference!

my configuration is exactly like the bottom one.. i have the TI8000 and I got 1GB mem installed and got another 2GB from newegg.. not only are you getting a faster front side bus.. you are also getting better performance on battery life with the newer core 2 duo's... thats the reason I went with the TI8000... i mean if you can afford it.. get the best cpu you can right now... its an easy upgrade now.. i haven't pushed my r61 yet.. mostly internet and small applications right now.. my wife uses it daily.. but i do know the power is there if i need it..
either one will be great..
dont forget to use any coupons.. there is also a new paypal 15% off coupons floating around.. -
gmaster hit it on the head, the T8100 is going to give you better battery life over the T2370. The faster FSB will only help as well.
You say you're doing video editing... how intensive? I'm not sure I'd want to do anything significant on the integrated video. More memory will also help with video editing.
