I have a brand new R60. It is an awesome laptop. I want to thank all those who helped me to decide on this purchase.

But I did notice a bit of a weird behavior. I wanted to install an image drive program. In fact, it is the same freeware program that I used to use for my HP Omnibook that ran on Win 2K Pro. The software developer site stated that it is compatible with XP Pro as well.

When I installed it, it appeared to have installed correctly. Then I shut it down, and when I tried to turn it back on, R60 would hang on the "security chip" status check and would not boot up. I called the Lenovo service people, and this really helpful support guy was puzzled and suggested it must be a hardware problem and that I should get a replacement laptop.

I just had installed and created the set up the way I wanted it and I was reluctant to part with it so soon. So, I did a safe bootup and uninstalled the last program that I put on it, which was the image drive program, and lo and behold, it works again.

The name of the program was MagicDisc. I just thought I should share this piece of information with you all.

I am considering unstalling CSS all together, because it appears that it is more trouble than its worth. What do you think?

    Thanks.

It does seem as if it may be a problem wth that particular program and it may indeed be more trouble than it's worth. When using partition resizing tools make sure you do not damage the hidden partition that contains all of the recovery information.
