Does anybody know what is this clicking sound I hear from my Lenovo laptop? It sounds like click... pause.. click... etc. Is it coming from HD ? what makes that sound?
I have to say I'm very impressed so far. Hooked up a 22" thru VGA port to my R61, it looks pretty good at 1680x1050 resolution. Hardly hear any noise from it, had to check if its still powered up at times, lol

hi,
sometimes, especially when the TP gets warm or otherwise cold, the magnesium frame makes some klicking noise.
Also when you lift it up from desk.
Your HDD is under the right palm rest. -
If you have a Seagate hard drive they have default power savings settings to park the hard drive heads after 10 or so seconds of inactivity. Sometimes this is audible as a click from the hard drive. Many laptops do this. I find it very annoying. If you find the linux tool hdparm (there is a windows port of it) online you can use it to disable the drives power management.
If I recall the command is 'hdparm -B 255 hda'
Problem is you have to run it everytime your machine powers up as powering down the hard drive will reset it to default.
Clicking sound from latptop?
