    Hi all,
I am abandoning my T23. Please suggest if formating the HD (using IBM recovery program) is enough to delete all the critical information I may have in the HD.
    Thanks in advance.

how about using IBM's Secure Data Disposal? if you choose DoD level you should be good to go.

    Hi,
The suggestion of Scoot121 worked well and I really watched my data scrubbed off my computer, but now the problem is I when I reboot, I don't see F11 (only F1 and F12) and when I try to reboot through the recovery cd (by pressing F12) (I used option of recovery CD instead of floppy), I see following message:
Thinkvantage Secure Data Disposal Utility 3.
Date and time of execution ....
    Command executed......A:\scrub\scrub3.exe /d=all /I=4
    Retrun code..........0

Please suggest If i messed up my recovery CD and cannot reboot my mechine.
    Thanks.

I hope that you read what the program does on that link before going ahead with it. SSD deletes everything on your hard drive. You now have a very small c: partition with a file or two on it. You should still be able to select your cd drive as your boot disk and do the recovery using your disks. I have used this program on 600x's, t2x's, t4x's and my T60 and I have never had any problems using the dvd/cd drive to boot from once SSD has completed.
    Good luck,
    Scott

Yes, I am able to select CD drive and it also show an option of rebooting from CD. But it is not rebooting. Seems I have problem with Rebooting CD. I am now clueless, what to do if cd cannot reboot. Any suggestion would be great.

I am sorry I don't know what you are seeing. I wish I could help you. I have never used the system recovery cd's. I always use an XP or Linux cd. You could always download ubuntu 7.04 and give it a rip if you want to try Linux.
    Good luck,
    Scott

I guess this is more of a how a computer works question, but why is it that a simple right click delete and emptying the recycle bin dosen't fully get rid of a file. I have deleted gigs of information using that technique and if that doesn't really delete it where does all the information go?
