without leaving streaks? Any recommendations? I used to get the stuff from Fry's but still it left a slight residue.

Hi there,
Here's a good way to clean your laptop screen with household products.
Step 1. Pure some isopropyl alcohol some water. Purified / bottled water works well - aim for 50% water and 50% alcohol.
Step 2. Now, get a small atomiser bottle (which allows you to spray a fine mist). Spray each quadrant of the screen with a burst from the bottle.
Step 3. Use something like a soft cloth (e.g. an old T-shirt) and try to use a large one.
Step 4. Gently wipe the cloth against the screen. Use a consistent, counter-clockwise motion and try to apply even pressure.
That's it! A home-made laptop cleaning guide. -
Use a microfiber cloth. I was skeptical, but now I am a believer. They do a nice job. If your screen is really bad, use an endust lcd wipe and then remove the streaks after they are dry with a microfiber cloth. 95% of the time it just takes the cloth to do it.

You mean you can clean LCD's? Hmmmmm - I'm sitting here looking at my 5 yr old notebook that lives next to the sofa for web browsing - maybe the screen isn't actually getting dimmer...
