Is there anyway that I can do a clean install of Vista without buying the CD's? I just received my T61p and have 90+processes and my RAM usage is 40% idle with 4gb of RAM.

Use the hidden partition by pressing F11 at the Thinkpad screen and booting into Rescue and Recovery.
-
Do what optomos said and choose to do a custom install, you'll get to choose the programs you want installed.

Mr. Ico -
You can use the hidden prtition but it will not be a clean install -
So basically it will have all the bloatware still?
-
Perform the custom install and it won't have all the bloatware. You'll get to decide what you want to install and what you don't want to.
It's semi-clean. -
small question
if i will use hidden partition or R&R CDs.. will it wipe whole HDD? or only drive C: ?
i received my T61 with C: drive only after that i have created second one.. D:, after that i have made R&R DVDs... so wil it remove drive D: or only C: as it was at the beginning?
thanks in advance -
the recovery partition won't be listed on your windows explorer. but it will showed on your disk management.
Clean install without the cd.
