This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Clean Install=15GB, Drivers Installed/Updates=23.5GB

    I did a clean install of Vista x64 Business SP1, before installing all the updates, patches, and drivers the Clean Install took less then 15GB but after I installed the drivers, patches, window update (downloaded about 200MB of updates), the install of the OS is now over 24.5GB, how did installing less then a gig of updates and drivers took almost 10 gigs after installing. Can anyone help to get me some more space. I got a Thinkpad T400.

    System restore is to blame here. It's kicked off everytime there's an update.

    Once you're done updating Vista after a clean install, do a disk cleanup (start menu, accessories, system tools) so that you remove every backup except the most recent one.

    That will free up like 10GB
