I ordered MS Office 2007 Pro preloaded on my machine to save some cash... now I am wondering if I will be able to do a clean install and get Office back on there. I searched the Clean Install thread but did not get any hits on office. Has anyone else ordered MS Office? Does separate media come with it, or are the bits/keys somewhere in the Preload that can be copied off and reinstalled?

I'm not sure how to do it if you don't get Office install disks. It seems to me that if you purchased Office you should get actual install disks.

It's preloaded, so not sure if it will just be on the PC, include disks, or be part of my Rescue/Recovery disk set...... and if it is only baked into the image or if the install files are sitting somewhere off the root of C.

If no one knows, I will post when I get my PC and get to that point in my setup. I ordered with a 100GB 7200RPM drive and purchased a 200GB 7200RPM drive separately that I will be reloading onto (hopefully clean).

I agree with stallen. It's preloaded and they should give you the CDs also. You are buying the software....could call and find out though?

What do you mean to save some cash to have it preloaded?

Well, Vista is preloaded but they don't give you Vista disks. I believe it's the same deal. There's a ghost-like image that's part of Rescue and Recovery that will have MS Office and everything else in it. I'm sure I will be able to burn R&R disks, but I want to do a clean install of Vista, following the clean install guide here, and reinstall Office Pro without all of the other bloatware.

It was about $100 cheaper for me to buy Office 2007 Pro from Lenovo preloaded than for me to buy it retail from a reseller.

if you ordered MS office preloaded on your machine, I am almost certain that lenovo bundled the certificate of authenticity along with the product key somewhere in your documentation.

Maybe you can try downloading the trial and convert it to the full version using your key..this is some info that i'm copy and pasting from the MS site:
"At the end of the trial period the product will go into reduced functionality mode and you will have the option to convert it into a full version. "

Well I did some investigating, and the "Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder v2.0 Beta 2½" software will extract Office 2007 keys, so there is hope.

How did it turn out? Did you get installation media included or was it just preloaded? Were you able to find out if Office 2007 was included on your restore partition?

I did get Office 2007 install CDs. No sweat. Disk 1 was Office Pro, Disk 2 was Outlook with Business Contact Manager, so the real deal. Worked out just fine, installed on my clean install.

I think the Office that was installed (never really checked) was the trial version, with the expectation I would enter my key to make it real... never bothered.

That is very interesting as Microsoft's policy is not to provide installation disks for OEM versions of Office 2007. Instead the let the System Builders like Lenovo preload OEM versions of Office 2007 on the machine to be sold and then either the System Builder or the end user activate their Office 2007 using the provided MLK.

I also ordered Office 2007 preloaded on my X61 and I am hoping to get the install discs as well.

You never activated? Did you not like Office 2007?

Oh I activated Office 2007, on my new/clean hard drive, not the one on the original drive/lenovo build. Sorry for the lack of clarity.

The DVD's I received, now that they are physically in my hands, are in a white OEM sleeve with a Microsoft sticker on the back -- Microsoft - Lenovo Singapore - Microsoft Office Pro 2007 (OEM) - and my product key, with the COA looking ribbon tape and the whole bit. The DVDs are labeled as "Licensed only for distribution with a new PC". System builder editions are different than the OEM editions that Lenovo, HP, Dell, etc install, so I'm sure they have different rules on distribution.

If you're really curious, the Part # on DVD #1 is X12-07219.
