Currently I cannot decide upon these two models:

    SL400: P8400/2GB DDR2/160GB 5400rpm/14.1W/GF9300M

    R400: P5670/2GB DDR3/250GB 5400rpm/14.1W+/ATI 3470 Hybrid

Sure, R400 has a slower CPU, but it's equipped with better screen, DDR3 RAM, better built quality.
What to choose? Please, give me a hint. :)

R400 no doubt. Much better build quality. The SL series shouldn't even be called a thinkpad...

And what about it's performance? Will it be significantly slower than SL400?

speedl depends upon the configuration you choose. for the same configuration, i doubt SL400 is expensive than R400. R400 has way better build quality. i agree SL400 is not even a proper thinkpad

I've posted the configurations above - it is unavailable to get better CPU of R400 in my country. What about these configs?

Another question - is there a real hybrid graphics in R400? Does it have both dedicated & integrated graphics? Or is there only HD3470 and that's it?

R400 with ATI 3470? when did lenovo release one for R400? are you sure it is not T400?

with such a configuration, i would go with a R400 for the better build quality. the processor wo nt make significant any significant impact except for maybe power saving. but you seem to be getting switchable graphics. that will even out. better ram, better screen and better hdd. definitely R400.

I don't know when they launched it but you can find it in lenovo.com (except my choice has 2GB of RAM and WXGA+):

    Model Name: 2782T9G
    Part Number: NN1T9xx

I still have doubts on CPU... How will this 400Mhz disadvantage be noticeable on daily work?
If there wouldn't be a big difference, I'd definetely go for R400. Uff, not an easy decision to make...

Personally, I've seen an SL500 and have no desire to get one. Go for the R.

The SL is not a ThinkPad in traditional sense in my opinion. Unless you have a specific need, I doubt the better CPU makes much of a difference. I'd opt for the R for the better quality.

Definitely R400. I wouldn't even consider the SL line. I would rather have an ideapad.

psmo290: yes, Ideapad would be a perfect notebook for me (U330), but it is not available in Europe - US only. :(
So I'm stuck either with R400 or SL400 (now I see that R400 is more likely).

Is all r400 equipped with LED backlit screen?
