(Originally posted in "Which laptop should I buy" board, moved here.)

I'm looking for a midrange gaming and media viewing laptop - not looking to max out game settings - and have narrowed my search down to 2 builds from Lenovo. Display quality is very important to me, but I haven't had an opportunity to view either of these screens in person and I'm honestly not sure if I would be able to tell the difference - that's where your expertise comes in!

These models (a) Lenovo Legion Y740 and (b) Lenovo Legion Y540 seem pretty much identical as to specs EXCEPT that:

    (a) Is $100 cheaper; Has better display (15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare, Dolby® Vision, HDR™ 400, 144 Hz, 500 nits); But has lower range GPU (NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX™ 1660 Ti 6GB)

    (b) Is $100 more expensive; Has lower display quality (15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare, 144Hz, 300 nits); But has better GPU (NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2060 6GB)

So I guess my decision really comes down to the following questions: How much is an RTX2060 really worth to a casual gamer? Is it worth an extra $100 if I have to sacrifice display quality and get a lower (Y540) model/series number? Is a difference between these displays even going to be detectable under normal viewing conditions?

Or maybe there are additional advantages to the higher model (Y740) that I haven't considered yet, such as better overall build quality, improved fan performance/better cooling, longer battery life, more responsive track pad, etc? Basically, any differences that aren't obvious from comparing specs.

All of these factors will ultimately affect my decision. Thank you for any answers you can give me, and for taking the time to help me decide... looking forward to ordering my new laptop!
