I have a T410i. Its just a week old and i feel that the laptop is a bit too noisy and I can feel slight heat on the arm rest above the hard disk. Not sure if the noise is from the fan or hard disk and not sure if the heat i feel is fine or too much.

I want to know if there is any tool in thinkpad that can check the temperature of the hard disk and the performance of the fan and alert if its over the optimum level. Or a third party app that will do the task.

What is an optimum temperature for the hard disk? Is there any test to monitor the fan performance? Anyway to find if there is any issue with my laptop?

I would like know more about analyzing the performance.
