I've read that the consequence of x201s being quieter than x201 is that x201s's case becomes warmer. The main reason why I'm looking for a new laptop is that my current one's case gets too hot (burning sensation on your lap, sweating next to it in the summer).
Is it possible to permanently change minimum fan speed of x201s? What I mean by permanently is that the minimum fan speed is set somewhere where it's independent of OS installs.
I did this for my desktop GPU's cooler by flashing GPU's BIOS.
I'd rather see that the laptop's a bit louder than too hot.

download TPfancontrol, and control the fan speed using that.

But can I change minimum fan speed with it? I want the fan to go to 100% if it needs to, I just don't want it to go below a certain speed.
Also, is there a Linux version of TPfancontrol?
I'd rather set the minimum permanently though. Is there really no such setting in BIOS? Has anybody here tried to flash their Thinkpad's BIOS? -
You can configure tpfancontrol to lower the fan thresholds to your liking.

No, it doesn't support Linux. But you might want to check out this.
