Hi folks,
My sister has an old IBM Thinkpad X200 which has a shattered screen. She asked if I wanted it and it would be nice for some office work on my end.
The question is: can I replace the screen to a WXGA+ (1440x900) when there is a WXGA on it now?
Looking at https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/IBM-Lenovo/THINKPAD~X200/ the screen at the moment should be backlit with a CCFL-bulb while the WXGA+ has a LED. Looking at the info button on the WXGA+ screen it says they aren't compatible. I guess these can't just be swaped straight up since the connectors doesn't match. However, is it possible to get another connector along with the screen to make them match?
Perhaps there are some WXGA+ screens with CCFL-bulb backlit?
I don't have any part numbers avaible at the moment so this is just to see if anyone has done it before or knows whether its possible or not.
I'm working as a server tech so messing around inside the laptop is no big deal, if it's possible to get this done.
Kind regards, Tankzilla

You might want to head on over to thinkpads.com and type a keyphrase into the forum search engine there. It certainly seems feasible however I am thinking it might require a whole top lid change. If you do not find the information you need start a thread there. The guys and gals there are proficient and are extremely experienced in upgrades and some modding. Good luck

If you're referring to the WXGA+ LCD from the X200s/X201s, you can swap the screen, but you have to do the whole upper assembly, which would include the LCD housing, cable, LED sub card, LCD, etc. Personally, I'd swap in the AFFS LCD, which is widely available on eBay and fairly inexpensive if you don't mind cutting of the touch surface. It's only WXGA resolution, but it's a much better screen. It's also a drop in replacement on the X200 with CFFL LCD. I believe the WXGA+ LCD from the X200s is expensive if you can find it. I would question whether the one from laptopscreen us a genuine Lenovo part. It's probably not.
