    Hi,

Is it possible to adjust the brightness with software? Optimum would be an exe with arguments so that I could create quick links.

Reason: I have X220 Tablet and I always need to open the lid a little bit just to press FN+Home/End when in tablet mode.

    Thanks

I'm using the Lenovo "SimpleTap" software... it's kind of crappy, but it gets the job done. Do tell if anyone has anything better.

Oh :-( Thanks for the hint but SimpleTab is not just crappy, it is unuseable! On my *new* X220 Tablet it takes about 20 seconds until everything is loaded and started. It is overloaded, slow, ... unuseable.

Remove all the tiles except the ones you want?

I dunno why it's slow for you; mine loads almost instantly, and I haven't really removed anything.

    Hmm, just used stop watch:
Time from pressing the ThinkVantage button that SimpleTab appears: 17 seconds.
Time until everything is loaded: 22 seconds and 26 milliseconds.
    No joke!

Still if anyone knows a better solution (as I said, an exe or DLL which can be hooked via rundll.exe would be fantastic!)

Maybe it's the way you are launching it? I'm not using the ThinkVantage button; I just have the little SimpleTap icon floating around. It's literally 1 or 2 seconds for me.

EDIT: Are you using an HDD?

Even if: Where do I add systems settings as tiles?
When I click on Add tile, I have only "Launch a program", "Open a webpage", "Open a file" ... but nowhere a settings for screen brightness ...

True, first time load takes so long. When I have this (ugly) red "SimpleTap" running, it is fast.
But wow, this crap takes 164MB of RAM!!! No, I don't want to have that running all the time :-(

You mean rather than an SSD?
    Yes, it is HDD.

I want to upgrade to SSD once but I need to clarify the rumors regarding encryption first ... I use TrueCrypt for system encryption. Rumors say that this slows down with SSD because of special caching/fetching algorithms

I dunno how to add them... I had to move them all over from the next "workspace", but I had all the system tiles by default.

I don't know if f.lux would help you. It's designed for changing the screen brightness according to a clock, but it might have something in it that will work for you.
