Lenovo offers both models used with a $15 price difference. As far as I can tell, the only difference is that the T40 is 1.50GHz and the T41 is 1.60GHz. Is one preferable to the other? (I am using for internet surfing, photo editing, Microsoft Office programs.)

The hitachi hard drives on the T41 was infamous for crashing (the 80gb travelstar hard drives continue to be very unreliable)

Are you sure that the wireless is the same on both? The T41 might have b/g instead of just b.

I had the LCD develop a red seal leak on the T41.

So my T41 had problems and the T40 did not, but I'd probably pick the T41 anyway. haha

    Thanks all!

All the specs are identical as listed on Lenovo's web site except as I noted in my first post (T40 1.50GHz vs. T41 1.60GHz.) The wireless is 802.11b on both. They both have 512 RAM and 40GB. Screen resolutions are the same. So, people had problems with the T41 but think I should buy that anyway?

Lots of ppl haven't had any probs with their T41. Mine wasn't typical, except for the widespread problem with the hitachi travelstar hard drive. That was back then and they've probably been replaced by now if it was a bad one.

I believe the main difference is the T41 has shock protection for the hard drive and the T40 does not.
