So I downloaded the new Mobility Catalyst 7.3 today, and now I find out that apparently it enabled Hypermemory, or at least shows 512 MB under the Information tab and categorizing it as HyperMemory! I have never noticed this before with 7.2... but maybe I might have not noticed it before.

I didn't see any option for changing the amount of HyperMemory or disabling it anywhere in CCC or in the BIOS. Anyone know how to get rid of it other than going back to 7.2 ?

Everywhere I look that displays the RAM stays constant though (2GB), and does not change to 1.5GB like I've seen on other HyperMemory enabled laptops. Could this just be a false alarm and while it says 512MB Hypermemory it really isn't? I found some page online that describes trying to disable HyperMemory via the Registry, but that didn't change anything.

The GPU only borrows memory from the system RAM if it needs it.

And it most likely wont anyways because its not fast enough.

Oh. I thought it was strictly cut off... because I had an old HP about a year back and it had something mentioning about it being *strictly* allocated... is that wrong then ?

Did you download these drivers from ATI's site? Does your NumLock/Caps Lock/ Scroll Lock OnScreen status still work?

Oh and did you uninstall the drivers first? Reason I'm asking is I tried to use ATI's drivers once (and even Omega's, but that thing just kept flickering my screen) and I did a full ATI driver wipe before installing it and lost all the onScreen notification stuff.

If everything's good I'll probably try it out, heard the newer drivers fix the slowness to bring up ATI's Control Panel.

That was actually fixed in 7.2 I think.

Lenovo has released an update for the Catalyst drivers, but that is still one of the 7.2 series, not 7.3

Well I installed it and no problems so far. Thanks for the link too, apparently ATI wants you to install a program to see compatibility and when I do it says it can't be installed on my system =\ Don't see a direct link either, that or I'm blind.
