    Hi,

Anyone experienced a rattle noise from their T60 laptop? Evertime I place the laptop on the desk I can hear a rattle from it. I recently came back from backpacking and now wonder if sand has got in to it.

It's driving me mad so any help would be much appreciated.

    1) Where is the sound coming from in the laptop?
    2) Ensure that it is not the battery loose in the compartment.

    3) It's difficult to tell you what is wrong with so little information. If something literally broke inside, chances are the machine would not be functioning properly in some way.

Maybe a small pebble, but sand won't rattle. There could be something broken or came loose and the notebook would still work. A screw that was loose could have fallen out, but not likely. Pull the battery and anything else that you can without disassembling the notebook case itself. Move the notebook around different directions including on it's sides and upside down. Do not shake it. I have had a short screw fall out inside a LCD screen on an Acer and on a Dell in the past that caused rattling noises.

    Hi,

I picked the laptop up last night and a few bits of gravel fell out so I decided to give it a good hard shake. It looks like as well as the gravel there could be a few dead ants in there as well.

I think the laptop was on the floor in a garage and possibly an ant nest has been built in it. Can I put ant powder inside the laptop or should I call the pest control guys?

It's really annoying as I need to use my 60.

It would not be a good idea to apply chemicals to the internals. Even if you cleaned out the pesticides, the operating fan would continue to disperse the stuff into the air for weeks. Bad idea.

What would be simpler is dismantling the unit yourself and using a can of compressed air to clear away dead insects and debris.

Just taken case to bits and got the Karcher pressure washer on the internals. All clean as a whistle now, but seems to be a problem booting.
