I recently got a W520 and absolutely love it. My X220 tablet is going up for sale.
I am trying to restore from the in-tact recovery partition. Noting is working. Boot, hold down ThinkVantage button, have no option to restore. Boot into BIOS, nothing helpful. I imaged a USB drive with the restore program, boot into BIOS, set USB drive as 1st, when I reboot, it still goes into Windows.
What on earth is wrong? Is there a special key combo I should be holding down at boot to prompt the recovery program to load? I've tried everything it seems...

So I found this:
Rescue and Recovery to USB - Lenovo Community
It says you must run "diskpart" on the USB drive prior to creating a USB recovery drive. THANKS LENOVO for not saying anything whatsoever about this when you run the program to create recovery media. Of course, now I can't re-do the recovery since Lenovo only lets you do it once.
Here I sit unable to restore my PC that I bought and own. I know I could call Lenovo and beg for recovery discs, but it's the principle here...the USB recovery is not working and I followed all prompts from the recovery program. Not one thing about diskpart was mentioned.
Please tell me there is a way to recover this PC to the factory image. I have a USB with the image on it (that won't boot) and an in-tact recovery partition from the factory that won't boot into recovery either. Very frustrating.
Edit: If anyone cares, I moved the files from the USB drive, formatted the drive as bootable using diskpart, now I'm moving the files back onto the USB drive. Jeez what a process. Hope it works...
Edit2: Bootmgr not found. Awesome. I have no idea what to do next.
