    I have recently purchased a Lenovo W500.

As to my understanding it should have a GPS receiver as part of Mobile Broadband bundle. I have a "ThinkVantage GPS" shortcut on my desktop, but when I start the application it says
"Cannot Initialize GPS COM port. (1)"

There are no options in this application so I have no clue what to do.
I have searched BIOS for some GPS-related settings but I found nothing.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

GPS is not a separate piece of hardware, it is provided as another function of WWAN card. So, to enable it you have to enable WWAN in BIOS, and turn "wireless switch" on. Also, if your WWAN is GSM (AT&T) you have to insert a SIM card.
