I ordered my Lenovo T500 3 days ago, estimated ship is 8/4/09. Can I cancel without any repercussions right now, such as a stocking fee?

I kind of changed my mind for a couple of reasons:

I don't think i'll be gaming much in college, i hope i won't anyway, so a bad video card might repel me from playing :D. Therefore, I don't think i'd need the 3650.

The price was about 150$ over my budget, disappointing.

The FN key lol... the ctrl key should be to the left of it :(.

    Refer to sig.

I'm pretty sure that you can cancel without issue as long as it hasn't shipped. Even if it has shipped I believe you can still return it without a restocking fee if you reject the shipment and don't open it. However, if you accept shipment, open it, and play with it, then you are SOL and have to pay a restocking fee (I believe 15%).

What are your plans for a laptop now? I would think a T400, R400, R500, or T500 with integrated graphics only would probably suit your needs and should be within budget.

    Thanks.

I wouldn't just limit my choice to lenovo though. I'm looking at the T400 or Dell E6400. Only reason I went with a bigger laptop was for the video card.

I don't think the deals are that great anymore for dell e6400 though... from the outlet anyway. What happened? :O

Because the price difference of the dells and thinkpads is not that great, I'd go for a thinkpad because the dell's keyboards are garbage.

That's isn't that great of a reason but it matters enough to me. I have to use an e6400 for work...

The price difference was actually a couple hundreds difference for me, of course, each had different things. And I don't understand how they are garbage keyboards? As my sig says, I return too much stuff. One happened to be a Dell E6400. I had no problems with it, and I actually prefer the keyboard for one reason, the FN key is rightly placed to the right of the Ctrl key. I don't really see how keyboards differ in any laptop. I've tried many, I've had no problems with any of them.

Still, price is what i'm concerned about at this point. I bought a Dell E6400 from the outlet for 750~$. I bought a T500 for 1150$~ new with cpp discount. Quite a big price difference, but yeah it's outlet price + 20% coupon vs New t500 price.

    Aah decisions decisions...

I believe that's untrue. Once it ships you're hosed. I suppose if you put up a big enough stink, maybe you can get it refunded. The only way I've seen anyone get out of the restocking fee recently is to order another more expensive machine before returning the other machine or Lenovo shipped it after cancellation. I don't know maybe it's changed.

Once it's shipped it's as good as bought -- your card is charged and the computer is no longer in Lenovo's possession. At least that's how I understand it.

Keyboard-wise, the Thinkpads still have a marginally better keyboard than Dell IMO, but not by much. The overall feel and responsiveness of the TP keyboard is better. The flexiness of the newest ones is not, and I'm currently figuring out how to get mine replaced with a stiffer T61 keyboard.

Whoever designed the T400's trampoline keyboard setup should be dragged outside and whipped with one.

T400s keyboard, unlike T400, is much better than T42 and T60. Period! I don't have experience with T400, but have other two laptops in front of me now, and it’s by far their best keyboard!!! Display is a different story; I would pay up to $300 to get 14" wxga+ replacement with FlexView/IPS quality.

I recently called to cancel a wrong T400 order, the rep told me that it would be canceled within 2 business days, but on the second day it ended up shipping instead.

I called Lenovo up and they said as long as I don't open the package and just call for an RMA number, I'll be able to return it for full refund, even the shipping costs. However, they did see that my order was originally supposed to be canceled, so I suppose that's why I had an easy time with that.

I would call to cancel ASAP. If it still ships, chances are the cancellation will go on record any way, and you'll be able to return it no problem. The build times vary of course...I couldn't believe how fast they built my T400, it was like a day.

I cancelled my order today, ordered it last night, the guy had no problems with it, i specifically asked if there would be any charges and he said no. I also got a confirmation email that my order was cancelled so I can use that to dispute it if they ship it.. you should call ASAP before they ship it to avoid complications

In my opinion the dell e6400 and e4300 (ones i've tried) feel horrible in comparison to my x200. There is no firm feeling to the keys responsiveness and the support underneath the keys feels lacking. Also I hate how the trackpoint feels.

I definitely feel better using my x200 for an extended period of time vs my work computers.

No, I think if you do not open the package and call Lenovo support, they'll let you return it free of charge (although you may need to pay return shipping). In either case, it will be much easier if you cancel before the shipment is sent out.

Hmm. So I don't know what to do now? Estimated ship date was 8/04/09 but it shipped today this morning. Will I have to pay shipping to return it back to them? If so i'd rather just keep it than take any loss.

If i remember correctly, there's a 15% Restock fee after it's been shipped, and you'll probably have to pay shipping too

Just call them to make sure

My ESD is 9/10. What's the chance that it'll be shipped next week?

    Want to cancel the order...
