Hey all,
This isn't a negative post. If anything it should turn out to be a positive one. Just thought I would like to share my experience.
I've searched the threads and found similar but different experiences on people canceling their order. Here is mine.
I bought a T400 on 10/11 (Saturday). I saw the awesome W500 deal yesterday (10/15) and decided that system would be way better (I created a quote for that BTW so I can call in to get it later). I called Lenovo to cancel my T400 order and they guy say that he would put in a request for me and that it would take 48 hours.
In any case I've received my an email this morning (10/15 just 3 business day) that my T400 order has been shipped. So for those who are ordering T400's without WIMAX, Lenovo is creating these machine at a pretty impressive speed.
I gave Lenovo a call again and they say that the request did not get through as it was already built. He then went on to say that it has been shipped and I inquired what I should do with it since I canceled it the previous day.
I read some posts in the forum saying that I should refuse the shipment by not signing for it and ask DHL to return it to sender. I asked the guy if I should do that but he mentioned that I should sign for it but not open it. I should call back Lenovo and follow up and they say that they request their career to pick it up again. He mentioned that I would not be charged the 15% restocking fee as long as the package is not opened.
I'm wondering if anyone has a similar experience? Signing for the package and waiting for lenovo to pick it up again. Or do most of you not sign for it and request DHL to return it to sender?
There is of course that temptation of a brand new computer sitting there while I wait for the carrier to pick it up. Who knows I might just open it up and keep it. He he

Hmm well are they providing any RMA number for a return on it...or do you have to wait until you get it? I'd be sort of lazy to bother to sign for it, call, and then get it picked up/drop it off. But, alas, they have your credit card as hostage so you should listen to them and ensure the return on your card goes smoothly.
I think it is amazing that so many people have canceled to have their laptops ship within their cancellation period. -
I think I'll have to wait until I get it for them to process the RMA. I don't mind calling and returning.
I'm just hoping I don't cave into the temptation to open it after signing for it. =) -
good luck.

I was told the same thing, as far as you called to cancel before Lenovo ship it out, you suppose to get the full refund. But it's better to get a proof about your cancellation which is before the shipment. Lenovo's term state clearly that Lenovo will charge 15% restock fee unless it's Lenovo's fault. It's does't matter you open the box or not, or you accept or refuse the delivery. If you request to cancel before the shipping, Lenovo still ship it to, it's Lenovo's fault. When I called to cancel the order before the shipping, I insisted to have email comfirmation. They shipped it out one day after my cancellation. I plan the accept the delivery and call to return.

Yeah, I totally understand the varying experiences of people not receiving the laptop.
I also tried to get an email confirmation but the CS rep said that Lenovo could not provide one. As long as they have the record of it I should be fine.
Also I've just checked the Tracking Information. It just departed from Hong Kong. Any idea what the average time it takes for the laptop to arrive at my doorstep? -

Well. The return went well. I guess the idea here is that as long as you cancel your laptop before it ships, and mention that tot he CS rep it should go smoothly. Now I'll have to wait 8 business days for them to refund my CC.
