I finally had it with Lenovo's poor customer service and decide to cancel my T61 order that was placed 6/15. I tried on 3 seperate occasions to make a small modfication on my order: change from the cd-rw/dvd drive to the dvd-rw+/- drive and add vista business. Each time I was told by the CS Rep to wait 5 days and a new invoice be sent.

On the fourth attempt, I was able to get a hold of a cool Rep in Canada who was able to send me an invoice in 3 days. However, to make those small changes, I would it would have to be sans the e-coupon, costing me an extra 200+ for my configuration. In addition, they would need to replace the order.

My order status page gives no indication on when I will be receiving the unit I ordered. I have a strong premonition that it might be September. I decided to cancel my order and pay a few hundred dollars more for a Macbook Pro. I've owned several thinkpads in the future and was very satisfied with them. :( However, this bad experience with Lenovo has tarnished my view of them.

I would have been willing to wait a little if more information was able to be given as to why such a long delay. Everytime I call it is a different excuse: WSXGA+ display, Wireless USB, etc.

Yup. Corporate America is moving fast towards the "serviced by human robots" model... Lenovo (actually still IBM people here in the U.S.A) is no exception.
