    Hey everyone,
Just got a brand new T61p today, I got it with Vista Basic because I have a copy of XP Pro I was going to throw on so I figured I'd save myself some money and pick the least expensive choice. Turns out, you can't install XP over Vista, so I completely formatted the hard drive and installed Ubuntu 7.10. I then put in the XP Disk, but when it gets to the blue screen after loading a few drivers or whatever and asks me if I want to install and click enter, it tells me it can't find a hard drive to install and press F3 to restart. After re-starting I try to go back to that blue screen and try to use the fix option so I could maybe type in "fix mbr" to try and delete grub boot loader and maybe it'd recognize the hard drive... but same thing, tells me to press F3 to again restart.

Anyone know what I can do to remove Ubuntu and install XP? I'm usually good with this kind of stuff, but I can't figure this out at all.

You have to set the drive to compatibility mode in the BIOS cause the XP disc lacks the necessary SATA drivers to install XP. Alternatively, you can slipstream them in using something like nLite.

I actually found the compatability mode, installed XP and everythings going nicely. Thanks for telling me about that.

I also got no recovery CD in my box... oh well.
