    Gurus,

Here's my story and I need some good help please! two weeks ago I got this 3000 N100 for a decent price.. Boy, was I impressed with Lenovo's imagination that managed to put together 1GB ram with a vista that's loaded with bloatwares. Vista was such a pain in the neck so I decided to do a clean install with my XP disc from year 2002. Never passed the BSOD at about a minute after boot, and Lenovo's tech support together with some research here and there confirmed I had to get an XP with SP2. I finally followed a how-to and spliced the SP2 together with my original XP into a bootable image, and was able to perform the clean install thanks to the guide here for all the drivers. Mostly things seem to work now. But I haven't gone past these two stoppers:

    * haven't found a fingerprint driver/software that works for 3000 N100. The ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software 5.6 is said to only work for thinkpads and the basic driver available here doesn't appear to do anything after installation
    * i can no longer use Fn+F4 to do standby (Start->Turn Off->Stand by still ok), nor can i Hibernate the PC at all (Fn+F12 doesn't respond, and there's no option for Hibernate from Start->Turn Off).

Issue one doesn't really bother me for now, but i do want to hibernate the laptop. Can some one give a pointer how to enable the hibernation with a clean install of XP on 3000 N100? I did update the BIOS firmware to the latest and that didn't change the fact this BIOS is the lamest ive ever had anywhere (no expert or advanced options at all whatsoever, max i can do was to change boot sequence).

Here's a lenovo description of original PC config:
    Original description: T2350(1.86GHz), 1GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 15.4in 1280x800 LCD, Intel 950, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth/Modem, 10/100 Ethernet, IEEE 1394, Fingerprint reader, Camera, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinVista Home Premium

    Thanks guys for your time!

press shift button while in turn off menu(start->turn off). U should see hibernate option now. If not, check if you have activated hibernation

I think i can live without using the Fn keys. These are somewhat of an inconvenience anyways for fat fingers..
