I hope this is the right place to post this question.
I have a Lenovo Y410 laptop. I am trying to access my website FTP.DDRTOYS but I get the Can't display website error when I try to go there on the lap top through a wireless router. The router is a Netgear wgr 614 v9. I am also using Norton security. I can access the site through the desktop on a direct line. I talked to the people at netgear and they helped me to configure the router the way they said it should be, but when I told them it still didn't work their response was good luck. I am using internet explorer as the ftp program. I have turned off the virus software but that didn't help me either. Is there something on my laptop that needs to be set?
Thanks in advance for any help.

try connecting the laptop to a hardline, with and without your norton security applications enabled, and see if you can connect to the ftp site then. if that works, it's obviously some setting in your wireless configuration that's not allowing you to connect to the site.

I hooked my laptop up direct to the internet and I still can't open the ftp site. I know very little about computers, but with all my searching to solve this problem I ran across information about proxy settings. I didn't understand what to do with the information. Can someone tell me what the setting should be set at for ftp sites?

You don't need to worry about proxy settings when connecting to FTP sites.

Are you trying to connect through Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer (Such as typing in the FTP address after opening My Computer) or a separate FTP client?

You can try typing: ftp://username: password@ftp.ddrtoys.com for a delightfully unsecure way to connect to your site.

If that doesn't work then you may want to contact your hosting provider.

That worked, but the ID and PW I thought I had aren't working. Did you change it? Why did that work by adding text to the biginning of the address?
If you don't mind telling me what do I need to do to make it more secure?

My password for the site works on my desktop, but not on my laptop. Why?
Thanks.
