I want to take advantage of a 10% code today (Mother's day sale) but wondered if Lenovo will configure a T510 with two hard drives. The option isn't on the website/configure-it-yourself, but I was hoping someone would know if one can call up the sales line and special order that.

    Thanks in advance.

You would have to do so separately. The T510 can only support two hard drives if you replace the optical drive with an UltraBay hard drive caddy (and if it matters to you, RAID is not supported).

At some point I saw HP was offering to order configurations without ODD but with a caddy+HD.
I guess lenovo wants to make the extra $70 bucks or so for the caddy and force us to buy a totally useless ODD.

hp replacement of the ODD with caddy+HD is non removable solution (well you can remove it by taking the laptop apart), unlike the ultrabay bay solution for the Thinkpad.
