I have the GT555M,I've set up programs to run the Nvidia card in Nvidia control panel, but some still revert to the intel graphics. (3DMark 11 is one)I have the Nvidia card enabled but it still uses the intel

Make sure that the Optimus switch is on (the white indicator light should be on). Go to your Nvidia Control Panel. Select Manage 3D settings. Then you could either globally set your High-Performance Nvidia card to be constantly working or change Program Settings by adding 3dMark 11 to work exclusively with the Nvidia card.

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Turn optimus OFF, and it should default to the nVidia card.

You can call that particular position off or on, I don't think it matters. Whenever the white light is on, then the Nvidia graphics will be working.

Tried that. Also set physx to use the 550M and it still uses the intel hd.In comparison to your ideapad that has similar specs,my 3DMark 11 best is 1202 with the intel .

Your 3dMark11 scores are accurate and good. Nvidia card is working. My score is for an overclocked card. My base score was 1169 and an Intel card wouldn't ever be able to reach those numbers.

That's weird,in my 3dmark results it says that the graphics card is the intel hd 3000.Thanks for your replies.

Yeah that happens sometimes. 3mdark is just not reading the system right.

Try setting the power preference to performance instead of balance, if you haven't already did so.

Everything I could find has been set to high performance.Another thing that's kind of weird is that I can't set Windows media player to use the 555M.It's greyed out in Nvidia cp.

Why would you need to? The Intel is more than enough for media player, even 1080p, if that is what you are trying to do.

I don't know which drivers you're using with the GT555m but I do know that you can have all sorts of problem if you're not using the best type for your system as are many at the lenovo forum.

Try downloading those drivers ( 285.79, >>Edit<< had the wrong link) then uninstalling the drivers in device manager and delete all entries in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features. Once you've uninstalled and deleted, reboot and install those 285.79 and I meant to set to the High performance in here (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options) don't use the recommended settings they sux.

I don't think that driver will work without a modified INF. Are you using it right now Heresy? His card is functioning fine by the way, it just didn't show up in 3DMark11 score, but who really cares as long as it is working. NVIDIA DRIVERS 285.62 WHQL is the latest NVIDIA driver that supports GT 550/555M.

Have the latest from the Nvidia site installed.I did a clean install of Windows when I got the machine, originally installed the drivers posted on the Lenovo site.I then installed the ones from the Nvidia site and benchmarks improved significantly.I always use Driver Sweeper in safe mode when uninstalling drivers.Incidentally,I tried to run 3DMark 11 with the intel Graphics enabled and it wouldn't even run,has to be a DX11 card,so there's no doubt that it's using the GT555M

Well I am using the 285.79 and you can read on that Nvidia link that they do fix bugs in BF3 which I do play, I was going to try the 285.62 but it took me a while to find drivers that worked well and I can't see why I should start tinkering with what ain't broke so to speak.

But I will give them a go, what the heck. But I wouldn't be happy if they're worse or the same.

    >Edit< Tried out the 285.62 and got my a$$ shot off, so yea there's not much difference ;-), so I'll go back to the 285.79
